Robbie Williams’ past came back to haunt him in the form of a (rather large) contestant called Blobbie Williams.

As my exclusive pictures reveal, Blobbie looks the spitting image of Robbie, albeit a few pounds heavier.

And as the lads chewed the fat at auditions on Thursday, Robbie, 44, admitted he has been off the carbs while he perfects his TV image.

He told impersonator Blobbie: “It’s like a before and before shot. Since we spoke, you’re the reason I haven’t eaten a carb in the last three weeks.

“That should have been way more uncomfortable for me but maybe I’m as narcissistic as people say.

“I love that you make a living impersonating me. I’m a big fan of yours, you’re a beautiful man. Now we need Blobbie Sheeran, Blobbie Drake and maybe Blobbie Gaga!”

Singer Blobbie, real name Tony James, from Worcester, has sailed through to the next stage of the contest.

He bills himself as “the Heavyweight King of Pop and Comedy” and is a member of Take Fat.

It must have brought back difficult memories for Robbie.

His wife and fellow X Factor judge Ayda Field, 39, once said: “At 15, 16 he was called the fat dancer from Take That. That sucks. He’s been on a diet ever since.”

Robbie also suffers from a disorder that makes him eat during his sleep.

In 2017, he said: “In my sleep I don’t want kale. I want sugar – and loads of it.

“That leaves me not a lot of room for (eating) bad stuff during the day because bad stuff happens while I’m asleep.”

He seems to have a lot on his plate...
