Greta’s Titanic climate change task
CLIMATE crusader Greta Thunberg meets actor and fellow campaigner Leonardo DiCaprio as they vow to fight global warming together.
The Oscar-winning star called the 16-year-old Swedish schoolgirl “a leader of our time” and revealed they have “made a commitment to support one another”.
Titanic actor Leo, 44, posted an image online of the two of them together, saying Greta’s message is “a wake-up call to world leaders”.
Leo, who has been criticised for using private jets while protesting against global warming, said it was an honour to speak with Greta.

CRISIS
If you don’t believe in science and man-made global warming, then that’s up to you.
But you do have to believe your own eyes. So said the governor of California, Gavin Newsom, when he surveyed the terrifying wind-driven wildfires that are currently sweeping through southern California, destroying homes and livelihoods and causing mass evacuations.
And there in the middle of it all is little Greta Thunberg, the child activist who has done more to raise awareness than many politicians and campaigners.
She’s in the United States in the latest phase of her mission to change the world. Thousands of kids skipped school to see her and hear her speak.
“We can see the wildfires happening right around the corner,” Greta said outside City Hall, just miles from a blaze.
“Right now we are living in the beginning of a climate and ecological breakdown, and we cannot look away from this crisis any more.”
Los Angeles is used to seeing stars but this tiny girl from Sweden is eclipsing them all. Leonardo DiCaprio was at the rally too, but all eyes were on Greta.
She seems remarkably cool and calm and utterly unfazed by her own celebrity, even refusing an award for her work.
I wonder how long she can last before this mean, cynical old world finally gets its claws into her and turns her into a politician...
