LARRY WAS PART OF RTE’S GOLDEN AGE

Finland’s Prime Minister Sanna Marin, inset, wants to put the entire country on a four-day working week or six-hour working day.

This is something that we need to look at here in Ireland.

I think people are working too hard and spending too much time switched on at their desks and at home on their phones and laptops.

Of course you have to provide for yourself and your family but you should be able to switch off to avoid burnout and be able to enjoy your family and friends. There is an argument to shorten the working week so employees have time away and come

So it could end up with a win-win. It is not going to suit every line of work but it could suit certain industries.

Another option worth looking at is staggering work shifts in order to help free up the roads and eliminate traffic in big cities and towns.

People were furious when Fr Ray Kelly only got a score of eight on Dancing With The Stars last Sunday, the next lowest score was Michael Carruth with 12. At the end of the day, it was no real harm because he is only on the show for the fun of it and it is just television. Nobody was expecting celebrities to be amazing on their first week and it is not a serious competition. Fr Ray got the worst score of the four seasons from judges Brian Redmond, Loraine Barry and Julian Benson I reckon the showman in him realises that it’s just entertainment. I don’t think he will be losing too much sleep over it. None of those who signed up to the show did so in the belief they would become a modern day Fred Astaire. Those who can’t dance are doing it for the buzz and maybe to inject a bit of variety into their
