WOLVES READY TO RAUL ROOST

- BY DAVE ARMITAGE

RAUL JIMENEZ says Wolves now have to start believing that they can “touch the sky”. The Mexican striker (above) fancies putting one over Tottenham today to turbo-boost Wolves’ bid for the Champions League places. They reached the last-16 of the Europa League by seeing off Espanyol on Thursday, and only a point separates them from sixth-placed Spurs in the Premier League. Jimenez said: “We have to think of winning the Europa. We have to think we can touch the sky. “If we do it, it’s going to be amazing. If we don’t I am still very proud of this team. “Tottenham is a very important game. We are fighting them for the Champions League or Europa League positions.” The 28-year-old, a £30million signing in July 2019, scored in both his games against Spurs last season. He added: “They are close to us. They beat us at our home this season and last but we beat them in their stadium last time we went. “It’s so important to win and keep going up the table. We have made a very big step – 18 months ago this club was still playing in the Championship.” Jimenez’s exploits in the Black Country aren’t going unnoticed back home in Mexico. He has 3.3m Twitter followers – seven times the number of fans tracking the official Wolves feed! Ahead of match No.46 of Wolves’ season it’s clear that Jimenez, who first arrived on a loan from Benfica in 2018, is relishing the Molineux workload. He said: “It’s a small squad but these are the things I hoped for when I came here. “Is life better here than I expected? Much. “When I arrived I knew that we were a team capable of fighting. “Now I know that we are a team that can achieve great things too.”
