OLE SHOWS KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT...

- BY SIMON MULLOCK

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s commitment to the Old Trafford youth set-up is reaping its rewards. Solskjaer (above) has given debuts to no fewer than 10 of the young players who have graduated through the club’s Carrington academy. It’s a philosophy that has made the Reds the youngest team in the Premier League – with an average age of 24.8 years. And almost 50 per cent of United’s goals this season have come from the club’s youth system. Brandon Williams, the Manchester-born fullback, has been a revelation this season after first being called into Solskjaer’s squad for last term’s epic Champions League victory at Paris SaintGermain. He said: “You can tell how much game time and impact that the young players have. “If you have trust in them, then they will certainly take that opportunity. “Most of the goals at the moment are coming from Marcus Rashford, obviously, but everyone else has also been chipping in.” Williams (above) admitted that being selected for the PSG game was such a shock that his family refused to believe him when he told them the news. “I didn’t even know that I would be in the team until about three hours before the flight,” said Williams. “It was just sheer excitement, as far as I was concerned. “Of course, I rang my family straight away – but they just wouldn’t believe me. “In the end, I had to convince them and then I had to go and get my suit and get ready to go.” “United Hangout” – watch all full episodes on Manchester United official website and mobile app. You can optionally re-share the previous episodes (Paul and Jesse, Mata and friends, etc).
