Forget Angels... I’m loving telly instead

Robbie Williams relaunching to take on Simon Cowell

-

I’m not sure if this is good news but Robbie Williams is planning to reinvent himself as a TV mogul.

The Take That star, who banked £10million as a judge on The X Factor, is hoping to mimic the success of Simon Cowell and become a telly franchise giant.

And he says he’s got five show concepts he’s working on.

Angels singer Robbie says: “There is a lot of lovely stuff happening and I have got so many boxes to tick.

“There is a new avenue that I am moving into – TV. I am very, very excited about it.

“I hope we go back to normal soon because I have got so many TV ideas that I wanna do a myriad, a smorgasbord.

“There is literally so many. I have got five in the works right now.

“It is such an early stage I daren’t talk about it.”

Like most of us, Robbie, 46, is frustrated that the coronavirus lockdown has held up his plans.

“I miss having the option to do something and feeling that I cannot do that is restrictive,” he says.

“I am looking forward to when we can just have free movement and get back to normal. I will be looking forward to that kind of weight lifting.”

On Friday, Rob will appear on another screen with his Take That bandmates for a virtual reunion gig on YouTube.

Watching Gary and Rob fight for the limelight will be interesting.

He has also been offered spots on hit shows including I’m A Celebrity and Strictly but says: “I would be very grateful to do it if my career was in a place where I need to do it, but I don’t.

“I think the weight loss would be great for the jungle. I think I would come out looking like 90s me, before I got fat.”

He also ruled out Strictly. On a twohour Live Instagram broadcast, he says: “I don’t have to, that is the thing.”

Watch out, Netflix!
