BEST PALS Fern and Phil

TV’S Fern Britton has revealed the pain of her break-up with her husband, chef Phil Vickery.

“I know I’ve hurt people but people have hurt me too,” she said.

“We had a wonderful time. We were the best of friends. I miss that friendship.” Ex-This Morning host Fern, 62, and Phil, 59, ended their 20-year marriage in January – and twice-wed Fern isn’t looking for No 3.

“I won’t try again,” she said. “I don’t want anyone. I can do it by myself. I don’t feel lonely. I find myself joining the army of silver splitters and I’m really looking forward to the next 20 years.

“I’m looking forward to the last third of my adult life. An uncertain future doesn’t panic me.

“I feel liberated. I’m turning into a recluse – and I’m loving it.” Motherof-four Fern and Phil have a daughter, 18, and Fern said: “There comes a point when the children are substantially off your hands and you look at each other and wonder where you’re going from here.”
