HORROR IN THE PARK

Lone knifeman’s rampage in broad daylight

- BY KAREN ROCKETT

THREE people are feared dead and a further 12 injured after a knifeman went on the rampage in a suspected terror attack.

Families had gathered in the afternoon sun after a Black Lives Matter demo in Reading had ended peacefully when a man reportedly pulled a knife and began randomly stabbing people.

One witness said: “I thought they were playing duck duck goose... then we realised it was blood.”

Home Secretary Priti Patel tweeted she was “deeply concerned.”

THE probe into Prince Andrew’s paedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein is in turmoil after the top prosecutor was asked to resign – and refused.

The US Department of Justice said Geoffrey Berman, who accused Andrew of lying over his co-operation with the investigation – which he denies – was “stepping down”.

Attorney General Bill Barr said Berman was on his way out and President Trump had already picked out his successor.

But Berman, the Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said: “I have not resigned my position. I will step down when a presidentially appointed nominee is confirmed. Until then, our investigations will move forward. I cherish every day that I work with the men and women of this office to pursue justice without fear or favour.” Barr had announced in a surprise press release that Berman – who has gone after Trump’s allies and launched an investigation into the President’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani – was to go.

Berman’s highest-profile case is the probe into Epstein, which led to bust-ups with the Duke of York’s legal team. A spokesman for Andrew, who denies claims he offered “zero co-operation”, declined to comment.
