She’s desperate for more nights of Spanish mayhem

What I’m watching…

Black Monday. It’s an outrageous comedy set in Wall Street in the 1980s, starring Don Cheadle. It’s hedonistic, rude and has a Wolf of Wall Street vibe. Not for the fainthearted!

What I’m most looking forward to…

Series six of Schitt’s Creek. I love it. It’s created by actor Eugene (American Pie) and his son They play a wealthy family who lose everything and have to go and live in a hick town in the middle of nowhere. It’s very funny.

Dream telly role…

Reporter at the Tambury Gazette in After Life. It’s such a great series and Ricky Gervais does sadness so well. I’d love to work in his newspaper office as their environment correspondent and write about all the green, climate-change issues that are plaguing the town.

Sherrie Hewson is pining for another night down Neptune’s… and she’s still got her gladrags.

The Benidorm fave is piling the pressure on creator Derren Litten to bring back the cult hit.

The sun set on the ITV expat sitcom in 2018 – but with repeats showing during lockdown, the campaign to bring it back has been renewed.

Sherrie says: “Benidorm was the most amazing job. We were out there for six months of the year for 10 years. Everyone who came out didn’t go home. They paid for their own hotels so they could stay longer.

“We had the best time.

I’ve had the best telly career ever and that ended with Benidorm. And it’s still on telly every day. “I’d be back in a flash if Derren brought it back. I’ve told him that.” Derren insists there will be no more – but Sherrie, 69, is not so sure. “Never say never,” she says. “I never go two steps without somebody stopping me saying they were thrilled it’s on Netflix.” Sherrie has even been wearing her show clobber in lockdown. She says: “I have Joyce TempleSavage’s power dresses that I still wear.

“I have an evening dress from when we went to Neptune’s.”

The actress has been busy with her YouTube series Wonderbirds in which she is joined by Harriet Thorpe, Debbie Arnold and Dee Anderson to chat with celebrity friends.

Sherrie says: “We have a prosecco every Saturday… it’s 10am. By the time we finish, you can’t hear what we’re saying! It’s hysterical.”

She says the four shows a week have got her through lockdown. “You get up and you’re feeling dark and down. Then we all get on Zoom and have a laugh.

“We’ve had Paul O’Grady on, Gok Wan… we’re not restricted like on telly, we can say what we want. It’s joyous.

“When Tony Maudsley was on, he asked how my chihuahua was and I said, ‘It was wet through the other day, I had to dry it and be careful not to burn it’. It got sillier and sillier, ruder and ruder.”

Other guests include Absolutely Fabulous favourite Harriet Thorpe, former EastEnder Debbie Arnold and actress Dee Anderson.

They say a dog is a man’s best friend – but that’s not so for Jack P Shepherd and his on-screen pooch.

Jack – Coronation Street’s David Platt – tells how he and David The Dog got off on the wrong foot, or paw.

“He blimmin’ bit me!” says Jack of their early encounters. “He’s all right now. Now he…”

“Has no teeth!” co-star Julia Goulding finishes for him. “He hasn’t one tooth in his mouth, he’s so old. He’s about 17.” Jack adds: “His breath stinks.”

Nobody’s paw-fect, Jack.

is offering work experience on Britain’s Got Talent after 2017 winner Tokio Myers put the show boss in touch with mentoring charity Reach Out. Keyboard star Tokio, 36, explains: “Syco are going to let the kids be a part of Britain’s Got Talent.

“They’ll go on a TV show and see what it’s like to work behind the scenes. The behind-thescenes stuff matters as much.”

Tokio is giving profits from new EP Black Dawn to the charity. tv@sundaymirror.co.uk
