Next on the list..
The other day I was dressing my little girl and noticed it was taking a lot longer, and was taking a lot more of my energy, than it usually did. I struggled to get her head in the head hole, she struggled to get her arm in the arm hole, then struggled to get it out again, and struggled to get the other one in too until we both just gave up and decided maybe it was warm enough for just a vest.
It wasn’t. So I had to find something else for her to wear – not a mean feat as she is one fussy 3.5-year-old.
It niggled at me so I examined the top to see where I went wrong – hidden buttons, tightened threads, unzipped-zip?? None.
Then I looked at the label – it said aged 2.5 to 3. Aha! Now it makes sense. You see, I missed a Next Sale. In fact, thousands of us did as it was about to happen right when the entire world decided to shut down. Since becoming a mum, I rarely miss a Next Sale. I am not one of those beings that set the alarm for 4am and are queuing outside at 5 to wait for the doors at 6. No I am DEFINITELY not one of those.
I wait until at least 8am – yes really. You see the early mummies catch the Next multi-packs – vests, T-shirts, leggings, socks, underwear... that’s what we all need and that’s what we all want.
The pretty dresses, cool tees and funky shoes are all well and good quality but we need the above items in abundance. A well-stocked wardrobe which is ready to accommodate any spillages, accidents and general wear and tear.
So now that Next has reopened its Belfast stores we can restock our shelves. Plus, don’t forget that cheeky side purchase we all like to make for ourselves in the womenswear section. Ahh it’s good to be back.
