ROBBEN RETURN

FORMER Chelsea forward Arjen Robben is planning to come out of retirement and play for boyhood club Groningen.

Robben retired in July 2019 after a trophy-laden career with top-flight clubs Real Madrid, Chelsea and Bayern Munich.

But the Dutchman, 36, is eyeing a comeback to help first club Groningen, who have been badly affected by the suspension of football, following the pandemic.

“It is my dream to wear the Groningen shirt again,” said Robben (left), who won the Premier League, FA

Cup and League Cup with Chelsea.

“I don’t know yet whether this will work. “What I do know is that it will not depend on my motivation. The club can use any help during this period.”

IT WAS supposed to give the nation a lift as lockdown was eased.

But while thousands might be finding it impossible to resist the temptation to dance in the streets of Liverpool at the moment, Project Restart is providing little joy for the rest of the country.
