WILLIAMS SHOULD SMASH IT

-

SMASH WILLIAMS can upstage the fancied rivals in the Group 3 Rybo Ballycorus Stakes at Fairyhouse today.

Jim Bolger’s charge doesn’t win often but when things fall his way he is capable of making his mark at this level.

His most recent effort in last weekend’s Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh was quite encouraging as he was only beaten a length and a half into fourth by Speak In Colours. That rival is in opposition again but he has yet to win at this seven furlong trip.

In addition Smash Williams has winning form at this distance and he is five pounds better off for last week’s defeat.

Joseph O’Brien, who trains Speak In Colours, might have better luck elsewhere on the card.

His Zofar Zogood is the choice in the fillies maiden following a good run in defeat behind Slaney East in a decent maiden here last week.

Another likely winner for O’Brien is Druid’s Altar in the colts and geldings maiden over a mile and a half.

Elsewhere the Fozzy Stack-trained Drumquina is a confident choice to land the concluding sprint handicap on her first start of the season.
