Bentley set for heart op

AFC Fylde boss Jim Bentley is due to undergo heart bypass surgery after tests revealed a blocked artery.

The 44-year-old (below), who took over at the National League side in October, has been on medication since the start of the year after experiencing chest pains.

Bentley said: “I had some pains whilst training, and after getting checked out I was told I had a blockage in one of my arteries.

“Due to the Covid situation I haven’t been able to get into hospital.

“But I finally went to have a stent fitted this week, and the doctor noticed that my condition was a bit worse than first thought.”
