Toffees Sen big message

- BY CHRIS HATHERALL

EVERTON are continuing their search for a high-quality central defender who can adapt quickly to English football, with Feyenoord’s Marcos Senesi the latest on their list.

Senesi (below) was born in Argentina, has an Italian passport and plays in Holland – so shouldn’t have trouble moving to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has been impressive in the Eredivisie, playing 29 matches, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

Senesi has a contract until June 2023, but is stalling on extending it by a further year. Sources believe he wants to jump to a bigger league. Feyenoord want around £18million – Spanish club Getafe have had an offer rejected, while Atalanta and Sevilla are also interested.

But Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton are favourites to clinch a deal.
