Boys In Green airs again

- BY MIRROR REPORTER

RTE will pay tribute to the late Jack Charlton tonight by airing The Boys In Green documentary.

The two-part series, directed by Ross Whitaker, tells the story of the legendary team Jack built during his tenure as Irish boss. Originally aired earlier this year, it features contributions from Tony Cascarino, John Aldridge, Mick McCarthy, Ronnie Whelan and Stephen Staunton.

The Boys In Green will air at 9.30pm tonight on RTE One.

JACK Charlton’s granddaughters remembered their “beloved grandad” by sharing family photos yesterday.

Emma Wilkinson posted her own tribute on Twitter along with two cherished snaps of her with him.

The ITV reporter wrote: “Beyond sad to have to say goodbye to my beloved grandad.

“He enriched so many lives through football, friendship and family.

“He was a kind, funny and thoroughly genuine man and our family will miss him enormously.”

Alongside this moving tribute, Emma also shared heartwarming photos of her with Charlton when she was a child, and then on her wedding day.

Another granddaughter, Kate Wilkinson, also shared a post, writing: “Yesterday was a very sad day. My grandad, Jack Charlton, died peacefully at home. He was kind, playful and genuine, and I’ll miss him so much.”

Kate promised to share the messages of support that have been pouring in for the family with his widow Pat, inset with Jack.

She wrote: “Already seen many lovely messages in his honour. I’ll share them with his wife, my grandma Pat to help her through this difficult time.”
