DONALD Trump has admitted that he often regrets some of his tweets.

When asked if he ever felt remorseful for the posts sent to his 84 million Twitter followers, the US President said: “Too often.”

But he said he relied on the social media platform because of what he calls “fake news”.

In the interview with Barstool Sports, Mr Trump said we were not living in a time when people wrote letters and had time to reconsider their thoughts.

He said of Twitter: “There are times when I love it. Too much sometimes, right?

“We put it out, we feel great, and then you start getting phone calls.”

Mr Trump added it was often retweets that got him in the most trouble.

IRISH country music star Lisa McHugh has her sights set on taking over the US charts – once the Covid restrictions are lifted.

The singing sensation, 31, said 2020 was going to be her biggest year yet playing festivals and supporting legendary Welsh singer Tom Jones.

She added: “It’s very tough because I had last year off to concentrate on song writing.

“This year I was all set for the likes of Electric Picnic, Kaleidoscope and I was supposed to be supporting Tom Jones.

“It was going to be a massive year for me in regards to festivals, shows and tours and unfortunately it’s not happening.

“It’s like someone has swiped the carpet from under me since March.

“Nobody has a crystal ball either to know how long this is all going to last.

“Unfortunately, we will be the last ones to return to any form of normality too because we depend so much on large numbers of fans being at our shows.”

But despite all the setbacks, Lisa has her sights firmly on making it big in the US and following in the footsteps of chart-topper

Taylor Swift.

The star, who was born in Glasgow to

Irish parents, said: “I want to be doing arena tours and be up there and that’s what I’m aiming towards.

“I have been lucky enough to go to Nashville to write and I plan to continue to do that and just keep working hard and hopefully one day I will manage to get up there with them at the top of the charts.”

Lisa, who took part in last night’s Songs From An Empty Room on RTE, said the music industry has been brought to its knees since Covid-19 restrictions were introduced four months ago.

The event, which was held to raise money for Minding Creative Minds and the Association of Irish Stage Technicians Hardship Fund, saw live performances from some of Ireland’s leading acts including Gavin James, Sorcha Richardson and The Stunning.

Lisa added: “There is no road map either for the music industry and there hasn’t been any Government help in that area either. It’s scary.”

But she told how she has been trying to make the best use of her time in lockdown while not performing.

Lisa added: “Some weeks I have been very productive and others I just am sick of it and want it to be over with.

“During the productive weeks I have been writing new material and having Skype meetings with writers in Nashville.”
