BHOYS HAVE SCOTT WHAT IT TAKES

Sinclair’s backing his old pals to make history

- BY GORDON PARKS

SCOTT SINCLAIR didn’t say it was going to be easy.

But the former Celtic star believes a simple equation of having better players and a greater will to win all adds up to 10-in-a-row this season.

The former Hoops star is convinced his old club’s bid to claim an historic title, which begins at home to Hamilton next Sunday, is driven by a level of intensity that will prove too strong for Rangers to live with.

Sinclair racked up three successive Trebles during three-and-a-half years at Parkhead before his move to Preston in January.

The 31-year-old, who smashed 62 goals in 167 games for Celtic, said: “This season isn’t going to be a walk in the park for

Celtic.

“But at the same time, the winning mentality and quality in the Celtic dressing room is huge and there is no complacency in there.

“Everyone at Celtic knows just how big this season is for the lads. They will be right up for it and it’s all about getting 10-in-a-row.

“The deciding factor will be

Celtic’s strength in depth. It’s a huge advantage.

“They have better players than other teams, real quality, and I believe that will show itself in what is one of the biggest seasons ever for the club.

“There has been so much quality and depth within the squad and now there are players who are coming of age and who have gained so much experience.

“It’s vital these guys keep on pushing next term and nobody is better equipped for ensuring that happens than gaffer Neil Lennon (below).

“He’s exactly the right man as manager at this point in the club’s history.

“You watch the players in the Celtic squad and know everyone has that same mentality as him – which is all about winning.

“It was the same when I was there and it’s the same now – everyone wants to win. That will to win is even displayed in training and it’s taken into games.”

Scotland’s Player of the Year in 2017 is convinced Celtic are on course for historic celebrations.

“I am a fan from afar, I have been looking for every single result during their pre-season to see how they have done. I’m confident they will succeed and get 10.”
