A MAN and woman have been arrested on suspicion of murdering an adopted one-year-old boy.

The baby was living with his adoptive parents in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, but was still under council care.

Police were called in last month after paramedics raised the alarm.

The baby was transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool but died the following day.

A man aged 34 and a 37-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder, causing and allowing the death of a child and assault and illtreatment. They were bailed pending enquiries.

This week, as ever on a Thursday, I awoke at 6.30am with a sickening melancholy. Already in the air was the clunk-clunkwhrrrr of a dustcart, and I hadn’t put the bins out.

I leaped out of bed, dragged on some trousers, calculated this week was bottle week, picked up four huge bags of bottles and jars that once contained beer, olive oil, gherkins or rum, ran after the truck and dumped it all in the back.

The whole episode took 30 seconds. It was probably the greatest achievement of my life. THAT is what human beings with selfbelief can achieve.

This week I caught up with indie rockers Cassia whose EP Powerlines is out now. They talk about being touched by Lewis Capaldi.

Most embarrassing moment? Lou: I lost a bet with Jake before our first-ever main stage at Truck Festival and they made me sing Good Feeling by Flo Rida during soundcheck.

Most awkward celebrity encounter? Jake: Lewis Capaldi stroked my nipple, flicking a spider off me at Barn on the Farm. What’s the meaning of life? Rob: To experience it in all possible ways. I want to use the time I’ve got to be creative – that’s the key to happiness.

LIVERPOOL has been declared the most lovedup city in the UK after new research showed it’s the capital of romantic movies.

More couples cuddle up to watch romcoms and romance films there than anywhere else in Britain.

Kent and Cardiff came second and third in the Hollywood love charts.

And the most popular film to cosy up to is Mama Mia! Here We Go Again, followed by Fifty Shades of Grey and Last Christmas, according to the study by Showcase Cinemas.

The chain’s Mark Barlow said: “Liverpool is already well known as a city full of passion... and now ranks as the most romantic.”
