Kremlin critic back in jail as appeal fails
KREMLIN critic Alexei Navalny has lost an appeal against his jailing for violating the terms of a suspended sentence.
The Russian opposition leader was detained last month after returning from Germany, where he was treated for a near-fatal nerve agent attack.
He blames Russian President Vladimir Putin for the attack but the Kremlin denies any involvement.
Navalny was accused of breaking the terms of a 2014 sentence for embezzlement, requiring him to report to Russian police.
In court yesterday, in a speech referencing the Bible and Harry Potter, he called the charges “absurd” as he was unable to report to police while in hospital.
The judge sent him back to a penal colony.
A spokesman for Mr Putin said: “It is absolutely none of our business.”
Dame Sheila Hancock has told how she hates shopping “from the depths of my soul”. She made the remark in a podcast – My Wardrobe Malfunction – sharing that she looks like a “bag lady” and can be caught wearing “filthy old corduroys” and “a terrible old jumper” that belonged to her late actor husband John Thaw.
It’s so refreshing to hear this kind of messaging. It’s clear she is comfortable in her own skin and isn’t a slave to the imageconscious world we all live in.
We can learn a lot from her.
CRIMINAL gangs are targeting Britain with fake bottles of Aussie wine.
Yellow Tail labels are being stuck on counterfeit bottles which are then sold to shopkeepers for cash.
Trading Standards seized 41 bottles from a store in Sutton Coldfield, West Mids, after customers complained about its taste.
Counterfeits have since been found in shops across the country and shoppers are urged to be cautious.
Officers said fake wine could do “untold” damage to genuine brands.
TV wine and drinks expert Ewan Lacey said the wine is coming from China. He added: “Gangs bring it in and relabel it.”
Britain imports around £3.2billion of wine a year and 28 million of us drink it at least once a month.
