No sniping as Wesley bags America role

- BY MIRROR REPORTER

WESLEY Snipes has admitted he “never thought” he would get a chance to star in a Coming To America sequel after losing out on a part first time around.

The 58-year-old was in contention to play Darryl Jenks in the 1988 comedy classic about an African prince who travels to Queens, New York.

But he missed out when the part went to ER star Eriq La Salle.

Snipes said he was devastated to miss out on the original film but was overjoyed when he got the chance to play General Izzi in Coming 2 America.

He said: “I never thought it would come around again, and I would get a chance to make up for that, but it worked out wonderfully.”

ICELAND is hotly tipped to win Eurovision 2021, bookmakers revealed yesterday, but post-Brexit Britain may come last.

As bookies Coral opened betting for the song contest, the Nordic nation, which will have a song performed by Dadi Freyr, was the 11-2 favourite.

It was just ahead of Russia, which has odds of 6-1, even though its singer has not been announced.

But it’s bad news for our entry, to be sung by James Newman at the final in Rotterdam in May. The odds of a UK win are 33-1.

Coral spokesman Harry Aitkenhead confirmd: “Iceland remain the favourites, very narrowly, whilst the United Kingdom are much more likely to finish last than first if the betting is proved correct.”

MPs warn flood protection will be “the next major building scandal” unless new rules are made to counter the risk to millions of homes and businesses.

They believe 5.2 million properties are in danger, and planning policy must cut the number of new homes built on flood plains – and housing has to be protected.

The Public Accounts Committee also thinks the Government must do more to hold the Environment Agency to account.
