Zara’s latest bridal idea..

Store manages to marry silk wedding gowns with high street prices

-

They say there are three industries you are all destined to make money in – babies, animals and weddings. That’s because people are always having babies, people who have pets spend a lot of money on them and when there is love, there is marriage, maybe even several of them in one lifetime. So it makes sense that any businesses and brands which are able to venture into one, two or all of the above do as it is a sure way to keep making money.

And it seems Zara is very much aware of this as it has just launched a new bridal collection. And it comes mere months after it launched its pet collection. And the high street store has been strong in the kidswear game for many years. The bridal collection itself is small. It features two silk gowns, a silk dressing gown, a silk hairband and the rest is for the bride and groom’s eyes only. As with a lot of Zara merchandise, it will look AMAZING on a certain body shape but anyone still trying to shed the

Covid stone may want to steer clear.

Some people will frown upon a high street store venturing into such sacred territory but I say let ‘em. Like every post-pandemic business, they gotta do what they gotta do to stay in the game.

My two aunts and cousin treated themselves to a night in the Merchant Hotel this week. Having not been in Belfast city centre for near on two years, I was eager to hear what it looks like, again, post-pandemic.

To say they were shocked is an understatement. They found it hard to fathom just how empty it was – and not of people, of actual shops.

For me, personally, Zara was always the biggest pull into the city and I know I’m not alone in this. All the other shops I could visit in outlets further afield where they were bigger and had free parking. It would be a huge blow if Zara got into financial difficulties. So do I love the fact that they are now doing bridal? Indeed I do.
