Hectic week being run off my feet...

- Running with terminal cancer By Kevin Webber

As last week was for planning, this week has been for doing! My week started with my fifth completion of the beautiful Hangman Ultra 54k foot race in the rolling countryside near Andover.

The threatened rain mainly held off and five running buddies I’d met on previous races joined me for a great day.

It was clear that the organiser, Andy Nuttall from Ultra Magazine, had yet again put in so much effort for what was a small race in terms of participants, but huge in support and love from his team. As ever, their attention made us all feel so privileged and grateful to him and the volunteers for creating another amazing memory.

The usual legendary homemade soup at the finish rounded off a simple but perfect day.

Next up, I was starting to get all my admin sorted to send out signed copies of my book, Dead Man Running, in advance of its release on September 6, together with organising radio and press interviews. I hope that the book manages to inspire people to be the best version of themselves every day.

Finally, as you read this, I will be in Newcastle ready to start the first of four walking marathons for Prostate

Cancer UK this week with the amazing Jeff Stelling.

We will be joined by hundreds of like-minded people and a smattering of celebrities all doing their bit to try to stop prostate cancer from being a killer disease.

I’ve completed 17 of these marathons in the past, and what always amazes me is just how many people put themselves through the pain to raise funds for a disease that frequently and mercifully they have no connection with – they just want to do their bit. I am eternally grateful.

The marathons are in Newcastle, Leeds, Liverpool and London, so if you live in any of those cities, watch out for a crocodile of caring people marching through.

I hope that you too will take any opportunities to help a cause that matters to you – believe me, it will give you a sense of worth in the process.

Until next week

Kev
