ACTRESS Michelle Keegan isn’t just good at learning lines – she loves learning about the past, too.
The Brassic star is a bit of a history buff, according to her telly co-star Joe Gilgun – and glamorous Michelle’s specialist subject is the Tudors.
“She’s really smart,” Joe said. “Weird, but f***ing smart. She’s obsessed with quizzes! Tell her to tell you a fact about the Tudors – she’s got 100. It’s remarkable.
“She loves figuring sh** out. She’s not thick at all.
“If anyone’s sat at home thinking she’s a ditzy girl that likes to go out clubbing, you’re so wrong.”
Brassic, which returns to Sky next month, follows the lives of a gang of petty criminals in the fictional town of Hawley.
And Joe, 37, who writes the smash hit comedy as well as acting in it, says he’s been left in awe of Michelle’s skill in front of the camera – so much so that he decided to put the 34-year-old former Corona
tion Street star at the centre of an almost all-female episode.
Fans will see Michelle’s character Erin and her pals become embroiled in the underworld after biting off more than they can chew with a gangster.
Joe praised Michelle and her co-stars – Joanna Higson, 38, and Bronagh Gallagher, 49 – for leading the episode.
He said: “They are powerhouses, all of them.
“We were doing them all a disservice by not putting them at the front.
“So we just poured everything into a proper all-girl episode. And we want to continue to do that, actually, because they carried it brilliantly.
“Michelle worked her arse off because the conditions she had to film in were not nice. I mean, all night shoots, that’s rough…
“I’m eternally grateful to her for making a prat of herself for this show.”
