Duke in TV plea with Sir David

THE Duke Of Cambridge today urges us all to do our bit to save the planet as he joins forces with Sir David Attenborough in a landmark documentary series.

The royal tells viewers we must “act now to create a different future for our children and grandchildren”.

He makes his appeal in The Earthshot Prize: Repairing Our Planet starting on BBC One tonight.

Each of the five episodes, narrated by Sir David, explores an area in which we are destroying the planet.

And looks at remarkable ways people and countries around the world are helping build a more sustainable future. In the final part – Build a Waste-Free World – Prince

William says: “We humans have the capacity to change the world.”

He warns the clock is ticking, adding: “We stand at a fork in the road. If we continue on our path the natural world and everything we take for granted will decline.

“But if we take the other path, to strive to find solutions to our biggest problems, we can create a different future for our children and grandchildren – a better future.

“It is within our reach. But only if we reach for it now.” The series follows the launch of the prince’s global environmental Earthshot Prize last October.

It urges people to collaborate and create projects with the potential to help repair our planet.

Five £1million prizes will be awarded each year for the next 10 years, providing at least 50 solutions to the world’s greatest environmental problems by 2030.

Current Earthshot finalists include an initiative ending food waste in Milan and an East African project that turns 13,000 tons of waste a year into organic fertiliser.
