Dua leaps into big business
Singer does a Gwyneth with bid to trademark scent, booze and gems

SINGER Dua Lipa is taking a leaf out of actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s book by becoming a lifestyle guru.
The New Rules star is launching a mag called Service95 offering fans tips on make-up, what to wear and where to dine. Legal papers uncovered by the Sunday Mirror show Service95 will be trademarked for hundreds of items of merchandise, including cosmetics, food, booze, soft drinks, clothes and jewellery. Dua, 26, could even lend her name to lines of gardening equipment, according to files which have been submitted for branding. Household items, toys, games, electrical goods, books, soft furnishings and furniture are also covered under the application. Trademark experts from Mischon de Reya – the London law firm that handled Princess Diana’s divorce – have filed an application to the UK’s Intellectual Property Office for Service95. Dua looks to be following in the footsteps of Goop founder Gwyneth, who has made a fortune with a series of wellness products. And, just like Gwyneth, Dua is looking into selling candles. The actress sparked a huge publicity storm when she unveiled one jokingly called ‘This Smells Like My Vagina’.
Despite its name, it sold out.
Dua, meanwhile, has said she can’t wait to branch out into lifestyle, telling Vogue: “All my friends and family, wherever they travel in the world – even if they’re just there for one night – they’ll text me to ask what they should do.
“I’m their go-to person for recommendations.
“I’ve dreamed about this for so long. It’s a massive hobby of mine. I’ve always compulsively made lists of everything – my favourite places to eat, my favourite places to stay. “Honestly, if I were to show you the Notes app on my phone right now...”
Her brand could also rival the likes of reality star Kourtney Kardashian’s Poosh, dubbed a “modern guide to living your best life”, and The Honest Company, owned by actress Jessica Alba. London-born Dua is a huge name on both sides of the Atlantic.
Her track Levitation was the top US pop record of 2021 combining web streams, radio play and sales.
