TURNBULL EYEING A STAG DOIN’

-

Ross County v Celtic

Today, 2.30pm

DAVID TURNBULL insists the result will come before style as Celtic aim to take another step towards the Premiership title against Ross County this afternoon.

The Hoops midfielder is also aiming to cement a first-team spot in Ange Postecoglou’s (below) side before the end of the campaign after his season was curtailed with a hamstring strain.

As all eyes turn to Dingwall, Turnbull admits he doesn’t care about the performance – so long as the points come their way.

He said: “I don’t care how we get the job done – it is just all about getting the three points. It is all that matters. We want to play our style of football but most importantly it is about getting points on the board and kicking on going into the last run of games.

“The boys are all focused. We know what we need to do. Everyone is calm about it.

“It is very much about continuing to do what we have been doing all season – sticking to our style of football.”

The Scotland star also believes the upset of losing to Rangers in last weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-final has already been cast aside.

He said: “It has been fine. We have had a great week. We had the day off on Monday and came in on Tuesday and put the game behind us.

“We haven’t spoken about it. We are just looking forward to the game against County. We had a meeting on Tuesday – but we do that after every game as part of our preparations.

“The lads always block out the outside noise. We focus on the training pitch and in games and we always take each game as it comes.”

Turnbull always felt confident he would return from injury this season. He said: “The injury was tough to take. But I always expected to be back for the run-in – I never feared my season being over.

“I had to deal with the disappointment then it was just about going through the rehab.

“Things happen and now it is just about pushing to get back into the starting XI now and doing the best I can when I am in there.

“It has been good to slowly but surely get some game time and I just want more of that now.”
