Warnings to fans as touts flog tickets for up to £9k

- BY LEWIS PANTHER

GREEDY touts are charging up to £9,000 for tickets to the Euro 2016 final, we can reveal.

The figures on secondary ticketing sites are expected to rise further as the tournament gets going, despite being sold in breach of terms and conditions.

Even group stage matches starting next weekend are providing rich pickings for the online vultures who snapped up €25 tickets they are selling on for 10 times the price.

Fans buying them were warned they may not even get in to games due to tough policies on resales.

The revelations came after an investigation by consumer rights group Which? and scrutiny by the Sunday Mirror.

Which? said: “A significant number of unofficial websites claiming to sell Euro 2016 tickets are in breach of restrictions and consumer law, leaving fans at risk of being turned away from the ground.

“Tickets cannot be resold except through UEFA’s official resale site and consumers must take photo ID to gain entry to the stadium.

“Some tickets on unofficial secondary sites are selling for up to £5,000 and it is expected that these prices will go up as it gets closer to the final.”

Which? director of policy and campaigns Alex Neill added: “More must be done to stop sites breaking the rules and scamming the public.”

Outrageously priced tickets for the July 10 final in Paris were on sale on the Gettickets.co website.

Yesterday Viagogo – backed by investment bankers – was advertising the England v Wales clash with starting prices from just under £300. It will cost from £210 to see Wales v Slovakia next Saturday through ATSTickets.com, according to their site yesterday.

The revelations come a week after a government report called for action to stop internet scammers and hit them with fines of up to £5,000.

The Sunday Mirror last week launched our own campaign against the touts, calling for secondary sites to be banned from advertising and selling tickets before they go on sale officially.
