King wants to reign on Vardy’s parade

ANDY KING is planning a champions’ reunion with Jamie Vardy, but insists: “This time, I’ll be throwing the party.” The pair, who helped Leicester City to Premier League glory, are due to meet when England play Wales in Lens in 11 days’ time. Wales midfielder King admits the chances of sharing a beer with Vardy are slim, but he is looking forward ward to catching up on the pitch tch – before leaving the striker to drown his sorrows.

“I don’t know now how much meeting ng up we can do, but Vards will bee wanting to beat me and d I want to beat him,” said King, 27.7.

“I just can’t wait to get out there and prove that we are a good side.” King (w (with Vardy left) wa was an unde underestim­ated inf influence in Wales’ qualificat­ion c campaign – as h he was for the Fo Foxes in their sho shock title trium triumph. “It is going to help us t that we have peoplewpeo­ple who won stuff this season,”seaso he said. “I did i it at Leiceste Leicester, as did Gareth Bale at Real Madrid, Sam Vokes won the Championsh­ip with Burnley, and people like James Collins at West Ham are coming in with their best-ever finishes for their club.”

The only downer for King is that jilted England midfielder Danny Drinkwater isn’t there.

“It was very unfortunat­e for Drinky to be left out,” he added. “I was surprised at that.

“After the season he had, I thought he would definitely be going with England.”
