SUNDAY MIRROR Mark with pals as marriage ‘crisis’ is denied
MARK Wright responded to claims his marriage to Michelle Keegan is on the rocks – by going to Las Vegas on a lads’ holiday.
But the TV presenter was ribbed by his mates because he spent much of his time on the phone to his wife.
Last night Michelle insisted she had absolutely no problem with her man going away even though the pair have spent significant periods apart recently, prompting speculation about their marriage – which they vehemently deny is in trouble.
Over the past few days Mark, 29, and his friends have been living it up in Sin City. They were seen at the swanky 1 Oak nightclub on Thursday partying with a group of glamorous cabin crew.
The group stayed at the upmarket Wynn Encore hotel and spent much of their day relaxing in the sunshine. But Mark didn’t appear to be enjoying himself much.
A source said: “It hasn’t gone quite to plan. Mark’s been on the phone to Michelle quite a lot, with some of the lads ribbing him for not getting into the spirit of things.
“On one occasion he was on the phone for an hour and some of the lads were going mad. Understandably, he got a bit defensive.”
The couple, who married in May last year, spent six month s on different continents whi l e Michelle was filming in South Africa for BBC drama Our Girl as Mark stayed in the UK. He was unable to join her for her birthday a week ago because of commitments to Soccer Aid. Earlier last week he attended meetings with US TV producers. But last month he and Michelle enjoyed a romantic getaway at Pennyhill Park, Surrey, to celebrate their anniversary. Michelle last week hit back at claims of a marriage crisis after she was pictured without her wedding ring. She said: “I work on camera so I take it off and put it somewhere safe. Last night I went straight out after work, hence no ring.” A spokesman for Michelle said: “Michelle is happy for Mark to go away with his friends while she is working on Our Girl.”
