Rig brother Cam is botching EU

- Dawn French has spent years insisting she’s happy and healthy being fat. Which clearly isn’t true as she turned up at the Glamour awards this week looking thin and gorgeous having yet again lost shed-loads of weight. It’s the second time in as many years

So David Cameron has made it clear that as far as he’s concerned the 50 per cent of the population who want to leave the EU are quitters, Little Englanders – and more than a bit intellectually challenged.

So, that’s nice to know isn’t it? Our Prime Minister, the man who says he is passionate about this country, thinks half the people in it are idiots. Which is a shame, because they’re probably the same people who catapulted him back into No10 this year with a majority but who will never again make the mistake of voting for him or his party.

Why would they want someone in charge who thinks they’re racist morons who don’t know their own minds? If Cameron had a death wish for his leadership, he set it in motion when he aligned himself so vociferously to the Remain camp and dismissed as fools those who are despairing of the financial and political cesspit that is the EU.

Even worse, this week it looked like he was trying to rig the referendum vote by allowing a 48-hour extension for registration just because for 90 minutes the system crashed and left 214,000 unable to register – people Cameron believed were young and likely to vote In.

Now, I don’t like heaping horse manure on young people but we keep hearing this referendum is about them, their future.

So, if they care so much about their future and about Europe why the hell did so many of them wait until two hours before the deadline to register, when for weeks they’ve been bombarded with messages about how important it is? Does that show a commitment to Britain, to their future? Does it show a commitment to democracy?

I mean how busy are they? Most young people spend their lives online. How hard would it have been for them to Google EUref and just register? The truth is they just couldn’t be a**ed.

I heard one radio presenter claim the 48-hour extension – which facilitated another 433,000 registrations – was justified because, unlike those in the media, ordinary people don’t spend huge amounts of time thinking about the EURef. Which is pretty insulting to “ordinary people” who would have to be deaf, dumb, blind and terminally stupid not to know – or care – that there’s a referendum on June 23. And they clearly do care, because one poll has already put Leave 10 points ahead.

As for Cameron allowing this extension, how dare he! Can the rest of us get away with not paying our tax on time because we missed the deadline?

And what else will he just sweep aside if it suits him – the date of the referendum, the result of it?

We keep hearing from him and George Osborne that the only people who’ll be happy with Britain leaving the EU are dictators like Russia’s Vladamir Putin. How different from Putin does Cameron think he is? He’s just dispensed with a deadline set by Parliament because it suited him.

He said: “To hell with the rules. I’ll do what I want, to get the result I want.” Which is kinda what Putin does. Come to think of it, it’s what the EU does too.

And just to hammer home the point that democracy is dying on its backside here, we’re told that even if the British people DO vote for Brexit, MPs can still vote against it so it won’t happen. So, they can overthrow the democratic process because Mr Cameron and his cronies think they know what’s best for us?

The truth is, people will make this referendum about what they want to make it about. And from where I’m sitting, I see that voters are sick to death of a controlling elite that promises them one thing and then does another, an elite that pays no heed to their worries and what blights their lives, an elite that for years has told them it’s racist and Little England-y to talk about immigration – and is STILL telling them that.

And if we DO vote Out, that’ll be why.

He said: To hell with rules. I’ll do what I like
