We all thought suave and smooth Idris Elba would make the perfect Bond. But he won’t be crying into his martini now his odds are falling – as he’s actually a superstar DJ.

The Luther star, who performs under the stage name Big Driis, is in line for a headline slot in a dance tent at celeb favourite Coachella festival in California.

And he was recently forced to pull out of DJ’ing at Glastonbury at the last minute due to filming commitments.

A source said: “Coachella organisers have seen Idris live and were so impressed they want him working his magic for them. The plan is for him to headline the Despacio tent to DJ and do a freestyle set.

“Idris is willing to fit his schedules around it. He’s a crowd- puller with a reputation as a unique performer – his freestyling is really something else.

“It’s amazing that he will become the first British actor to get a major leading slot at Coachella.”

The festival is hugely popular with famous types including Kendall Jenner, Taylor Swift and Rihanna so Idris will be in good company. And like Kiefer Sutherland and Jared Leto, Idris has launched a credible music career at the top of his acting game. Next year he plans to take Luther to the big screen – he’s in discussion with studios about finance. The source added: “Idris is hot property in America, and even if he doesn’t get Bond, it looks like Luther will make it into cinemas. “A box office hit as well as a headline festival performance will cement his position as one of the UK’s finest talents.” Book me a plane ticket now.
