I couldn’t let kids see him in prison MP’s injured ex on why she didn’t press charges
SIMON Danczuk’s ex- wife declined to pursue allegations he assaulted her because she didn’t want to traumatise her children.
Karen Danczuk has told friends she didn’t want their boys to see the Labour MP jailed, adding: “I couldn’t put them through that.”
Karen, 33, was hospitalised this week after a furious row at the family’s holiday home in Spain, which ended with her needing stitches and Spanish authorities arresting her ex-husband. He denied assaulting her and she declined to press charges. The MP, 49, who is currently suspended from the party amid allegations he sent inappropriate messages to a 17-yearold girl, was released the next day and has returned to the UK. Karen remains in Alicante and is allegedly under doctors’ orders not to fly back to England until her injuries have healed. She needed stitches after Simon allegedly smashed a window in fury.
Karen has told friends she feared pursuing the matter through the courts could cause huge upset for her children – Milton, eight, and Maurice, six. Reports claim the row erupted when Simon discovered she had grown close to a Spanish waiter.
He has been suspended from his party since last December, and is currently facing a string of allegations against him – including a historic rape, which he has denied and described as “malicious”.
