UKIP’S KARMA KORMA Border force officers raid curry house as anti-immigration party chiefs eat
SOME of the top names in British showbusiness pitch up alongside the Beckhams for David’s 40th birthday…
But it’s not THAT David they’re here to celebrate.
The bash at posh London club Loulou’s was being held by Dave Gardner – one of Becks’ closest pals from his early days in Manchester United’s youth side.
Now a top sports agent, Dave has more celebrity links than Becks has tattoos – and it turns out they’re all drawn to a good party.
Model Kate Moss, 42 – who introduced Dave to partner Liv Tyler – was also there, as were Princess Beatrice and her mum, the Duchess of York.
Becks, 41, was joined by wife Victoria, but she headed home rather than stay for the afterparty at popular celeb haunt, the Chiltern Firehouse.
Other A-listers in attendance included Dave’s former love Rita Ora, as well as new Strictly contestant Daisy Lowe, Will.i.am, Jemima Khan and Noel Gallagher.
Dapper Dave G arrived alongside his partner Liv, 39 – actress daughter of Aerosmith frontman Steve Tyler. Liv gave birth to the couple’s second child, Lula, two months ago.
The stylish line-up prompted plenty of competition in the fashion stakes, with Victoria opting for a sophisticated all-black ensemble, while Kate Moss chose a bold navy velvet trouser suit.
Wishing his pal a happy birthday, Becks posted a photo of the pair on Instagram showing him lounging on a sofa as his pal fed him grapes.
Becks wrote: “We are lucky to have people we trust that support each decision we make. Happy Birthday to an amazing father, friend and husband to be.” BORDER officers raided an Indian restaurant as members of antiimmigration party UKIP tucked in.
Astonished activists were told there would be “a slight delay” after Lisa Duffy, runner-up in the party’s leadership vote, had taken nine pals to Bournemouth’s Indian Ocean restaurant.
Ms Duffy, who had campaigned hard for immigration controls, said yesterday: “It is a bit ironic really. When we went in immigration officers were there, then we were put to our table which was adjacent to the door.” She said a six-strong border team came out of the kitchen and appeared to be accompanying a man in his 20s or 30s.
Ms Duffy, a councillor in Huntingdon, Cambs, claimed: “Then as somebody else came through the door, this gentleman managed to flee. I think they were going to take him to their van but he managed to run away.” The restaurant deny anyone ran away.
Ms Duffy – who was compared to Donald Trump for vowing to ban the burka in public buildings – defended the raid even though it disrupted the Ukip night out. She said: “It’s the only way they’re going to find illegal immigrants.” Her campaign manager Jay Beecher said he saw “the irony and the funny side” of Friday’s incident. He even said it was his “highlight” of the conference, at which Diane James replaced Nigel Farage. There were no arrests and officials said the restaurant’s paperwork was in order. A spokesman for the eaterie was baffled by Ukip’s version of events and said: “We don’t employ illegals.”
