Luvvie Lily’s sorry excuse of a TV report
Where does Lily Allen get off bad mouthing the UK to refugees in the Calais jungle then having the cheek to apologise for the so-called cruelty of what Brits “have put you through”. In her TV report for the Victoria Derbyshire show she appeared on screen, weeping and wailing, saying what’s happening in Afghanistan and Calais is Britain’s fault. In the midst of all this emotion Ms Allen was asked if she’d take an unaccompanied refugee child into her £2million Notting Hill home. She said she would: “100 per cent. Who wouldn’t?” So my question is: Why hasn’t she? Calais’ jungle camp isn’t a new phenomenon. There have been documentaries and news reports coming out of this hellhole for months. So if Ms Allen’s so willing to help – why hasn’t she? She’s had months to start the process of taking in one of these poor displaced kids. But she hasn’t. She’s like all those other high-profile bleeding hearts who have lots to say when they’re in front of a camera but don’t actually do anything practical. Remember Yvette Cooper promising to take in a refugee? She hasn’t. Remember Nicola Sturgeon promising the same? She hasn’t. Benedict Cumberbatch harangues people about helping refugees but has he taken one into his home yet? No. Lily Allen has no right apologising on behalf of this nation in order to make herself look like some sort of heroine. Maybe instead she should apologise to her own kids for getting wasted in public and making a holy show of herself. She needs to sort out her own life before giving false hope to kids she can never help. People are asking what Elton John will reveal in his £6million memoirs. None of the good stuff, that’s for sure.
