PRINCE HARRY

Star hits two in 180 seconds to sink Hammers...

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

HARRY KANE was absolutely thrilled after his two late strikes sank West Ham.

Tottenham were losing 2-1 with minutes to go after Manuel Lanzini had put the Hammers back in front from the penalty spot.

But Kane, who only returned to the team just before the international break after a lengthy injury lay-off, pulled Tottenham level after 88 minutes and, in the 91st minute, he snatched all three points from the penalty spot.

Kane said: “What a win. It looked like it would be a disappointing afternoon. I thought we had played well and we left it late – what a night, what a performance.

“We wanted to win and give the fans something to cheer about and a lot of them will go home happy.” Tottenham, for whom Harry Winks ( below) had equalised after Michail Antonio had give West Ham the lead, now travel to Monaco for a vital Champions League encounter on Tuesday and they will be buoyed after getting one of their London rivals.

Kane added: “It’s an important week and we didn’t want to go into that game having lost the first one. It is a must- win match and we’re excited.”

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said: “It was a very, very tough game and I’m very pleased with the performance. We pushed West Ham on the pitch.

“We were a little bit unlucky on the penalty and the way we concede the goal but we showed big character and personality. For the result, I am very pleased and I congratulate the players because they fought until the last minute. “We created more than West Ham and if one team deserved to win it was us. It wasn’t our best performance but, in the end, it’s a fantastic three points. On Kane, he added: “Harry is always very important, he’s our main striker and is one of the bets in the world. “You miss this type of player when he doesn’t play for you and it’s very important today that he’s back.” BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand joked that Winks would get pelters from is team-mates for celebrating with boss Pochettino after his goal. Ferdinand said: “He’ll get destroyed in the changing room for that.” Hammers boss Slaven Bilic, who had Reid sent off for two bookable offences late on, said: “We’re extremely disappointed when you’re 2-1 up with a few minutes to go.

“Also we had three good chances to score the third and, when you’re up with three minutes to go, you want to win. You have to be smarter.

“For the penalty, Son did a really good move and our player went down a little bit too quickly. We were the better side in the first half an hour and should have killed the game.

“Our penalty, to be fair, I didn’t see. All I have seen is their penalty after the game and it was a penalty, it was a very clever move from Son.

“Our player slid and Son was waiting for the contact, which was there, so no complaints. That foul from Reid is a big blow because he was excellent.”
