After I scored, it was just a bit of a blur... but brilliant

massive result for Pochettino’s side, who had drawn seven matches in all competitions and four in the top flight, coming into this game.

And with Kane marking his return to fitness with a couple of goals, Spurs will hope a season that has stuttered in recent weeks will have finally been revived – especially with Tuesday’s Champions League clash in Monaco looming ever larger

For West Ham, however, this was a real kick in the teeth and, while they didn’t drop into the bottom three, Sunderland at least closed the gap on them.

Spurs were poor in the first half and when they reached half-time without registering a shot on target, it was the first time since 2008 they had managed that in consecutive Premier League games.

They looked leggy, as they have for a few weeks now, and West Ham took full advantage, through Antonio.

The 26- year- old reckons he only learned how to head the ball when he joined Nottingham Forest and, if that really was the case, then he has come on leaps and bounds in the past 27 months.

The header he scored here was his sixth of the season and 11th of 2016.

It was Antonio who threatened first at either end – and this time, remarkably, it was with his left foot.

He cut inside a couple of Spurs defenders as he ran at them with whose effort was saved by Darren Randolph and there was Winks to ram the ball home.

But his joy was short-lived when Janssen fouled Reid and Lanzini converted.

But when Kane slotted home from close range and then converted from the penalty spot in those dying minutes, the happiness was back on the youngster’s face – and on those of his team-mates.

Kane said: “It looked like it was going to be a disappointing night but what a performance. That’s what it is about, digging deep and fighting for each other.”

Winks, who notched up his first Spurs goal, added: “After I scored, it was just a bit of a blur, but it was brilliant. I’m just going to see my family now and celebrate with them.”
