Slavisa’s Owls of protest

- At Craven Cottage

FULHAM boss Slavisa Jokanovic reckons his side were denied all three points against Sheffield Wednesday after Stefan Johansen saw shouts for a first-half penalty waved away.

The Fulham midfielder appeared to have been pulled back in the area by Jack Hunt before Scott Malone’s lastminute goal eventually cancelled out Fernando Forestieri’s opener.

Jokanovic (above) said: “It was one situation in the Sheffield Wednesday box where one player pulled the shirt of Stefan Johansen. I saw this and everyone in the stadium saw this.

“It must be some kind of change of rules. The rules say it is clearly a penalty.

“I don’t want to be funny but it is a big mistake in a very dangerous moment for us. People care about important decisions.”

Jokanovic did believe this result, achieved thanks to Malone’s half-volley, proves his Fulham side are improving. “It was a fair result, we played very well and I’m really satisfied with some parts of the game,” he said.

“We did not surrender in any moment. They played the better football.

“If we had played this game last year we would have lost 3-0.

“We did not offer our best performance but it was a small step where we are learning to compete.”

Opposite number Carlos Carvalhal was happy despite the late goal denying his side three points after a fine goal from Forestieri.

“We performed very well,” the Owls boss said. “Their team are in good shape, had won the last game 5-0 here and were in good momentum.

“We scored one goal and should have killed the game. We are not happy with the scoreline, we deserved more.

“I’m very happy with the team. I felt most of them hit their best level. Fernando is a player we need like this, like the real Fernando of last season.”

Wednesday suffered an injury to Gary Hooper who was forced off in the second half.

“Hooper will have a scan, it seems like a muscular problem,” added Carvalhal. Possession Shots On Target Shots Off Target Blocked Shots Corners Fouls Conceded Offsides Yellow Cards Red Cards 59% 41% 3 2 7 6 5 2 5 0 11 16 5 4 2 4 0 0
