Brave Wayne shows he’s the new Crocodile Dunny...

- BY JANINE YAQOOB

WAYNE Bridge snapped into action – battling past a crocodile to bag 11 stars.

The former footballer couldn’t hide his delight when he won the maximum number of meals for his campmates.

In a Bushtucker Trial called Panic Pipeline, he faced tanks of toads, yabbies, eels, mud crabs and spiders before having to get up close to a crocodile.

After a few swear words, he managed to get past it to grab the final star. “Sorry for my language,” he apologised. He couldn’t help rubbing in his achievement when he saw Adam Thomas.

“I’m just buzzing as Adam can’t give me any banter now,” he said. When he got back to camp, he taunted the Emmerdale actor, saying: “I got more of a per cent than you – you only got 11 out of 12, I got 11 out of 11.”

When deciding who was to do the trial, tension bubbled between Martin Roberts and Larry Lamb. The Homes Under The Hammer host suggested the group draw straws, but he was ignored.

“Keep your straws, Martin,” joked Adam. And Larry chipped in: “Yeah, we’ll get you something to drink through them, don’t worry about that.”

Martin asked: “What’s wrong with that as an idea?’’ Larry answered: “Because they’re sorting it amongst themselves.”

Talking in the Bush Telegraph afterwards, Martin said: “So they carried on talking amongst themselves and then, ‘Oh, that’s a good idea, wish I’d thought of it’,” as Sam decided straws would be a good idea after all.

Later, when Larry was washing outside the dunny, Martin addressed the earlier set-to. “I’m sorry if I antagonise you with my suggestions, I don’t mean to, ever,” he said. Larry replied: “Everyone assumes a role in it and your tendency if I may say...” “You may say,” said Martin. “You go wallop in like that,” said Larry.

Overhearing the conversation, Scarlett said to Sam: “Martin hasn’t done anything wrong.” And in the Bush Telegraph, Martin said: “If that had been a week ago it would have upset me – as it was, I just blew a raspberry and was like, ‘ Whatever’.”

Opinion of Martin has been split. After his clashes with Danny, he got campmates’ backs up. But Joel told Adam: “I just love Martin so much. He’s an unbelievable human being. I don’t like it when people shout at him. I feel protective over him.”

Adam agreed, saying: “He doesn’t mean to be funny, but he is.”

And Carol told Ola and Sam: “I quite like Martin, you know. He’s not a bad person. I’m very honest with him, but in a fond way when he starts going off.”
