SUNDAY MIRROR JAMIE BREESE On Antiques & Collectables

QAQAI love reading your valuations and I’ve got an interesting one for you here. My brother used to be a road manager in the 1960s and ’70s with The Swinging Blue Jeans and Vanity Fare. He was always getting me autographs – including Tom Jones’. He also got a signature from the late John Bonham, who was then in Birmingham band Way of Life, but would find fame with Led Zeppelin. I have been offered £400 for it. But is it really worth that? David Holmes, via email Led Zeppelin remain one of the absolute Holy Grails for rock and roll memorabilia. Your item is possibly more interesting to collectors as it addresses Bonham’s pre-Zeppelin days, showing his progression and history. For instance, a Bonham drum kit once went for £10,500 and I’d imagine it would be worth much more today. Bonham, along with The Who’s Keith Moon – another rocker who died too young – probably attract the most interest in rock drummers. I think £400 sounds like a fair offer. I have 2 Junior Pelham Puppets: JC5 Andy Pandy and JC6 Noddy. They are in very good condition, but the yellow boxes are rather tatty. Any value? Deanne Cobden, St Helier, Jersey If they are in good condition, in their boxes and with the original controller, they will be worth between £60-£80. Pelhams have a long history and are a uniquely British collectable. Bob Pelham founded the firm and it dominated the British market from 1947 to 1993. Boxes give a clear indication of age, with the brown box being the earliest version.
