Meat and fish prices soaring after Brexit
THE price of fish, meat and poultry has rocketed by up to 44 per cent.
The hikes follow sterling’s value falling after Brexit, raising the cost of imported meat, fish and seafood.

The deals come weeks after she was crowned Queen of the Jungle in I’m a Celebrity on ITV.
Scarlett told the Sunday Mirror: “I can’t believe Channel 4 have asked me to present this iconic dating show. I remember watching Davina on Streetmate when I was younger and thinking, ‘Females can present entertainment shows too, I want to do that when I’m older’.
“It’s such a fun show and it’s two of my favourite things – chatting to randomers and a love story.”
A TV source added: “This is an amazing gig for Scarlett. She had a lot of offers but this felt like the right fit for her.
“Also she is absolutely over the Moon at getting a gig with Alan Carr, who is one of her TV heroes. It’s literally a dream come true.”
In daytime show Streetmate, Scarlett will hit high streets across Britain looking to match up singletons who will go on a date then reveal how things panned out.

She has just released her fitness DVD, Superslim Me Plan, after shedding three stone in six months.
And since her stint on I’m a Celebrity, she has spoken of how she wanted to marry boyfriend Luke Crodden. The couple have moved to a flat in London so Scarlett is well placed for TV work.
The new shows, both to be recorded this year, represent a shift up a gear and the eyes on the industry are on her. A source added: “Industry bosses will be watching closely to see how she does.
“There’s a real buzz around Scarlett and this could be the start of a big career as a host.”

A half leg of lamb is up 15% to £9.60, a large pork joint 6% to £10.31, a large whole chicken 4% to £5.31 and pack of beef mince 3% to £4.12.
Matt Southam, of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, warned of further currencydriven increases in meat prices. “Retailers have held off until Christmas was out of the way but now we are seeing the first of maybe two or three phases of meat price increases this year,” he said.
A Birds Eye spokesman said: “Since the referendum, the value of the pound has fallen, meaning our costs in sterling have risen. We are absorbing a significant proportion of raw material inflation. We work to minimise impacts on customers.”
