SUNDAY MIRROR Naomie Harris vows to be a good girl at wild bash

He’s been hailed a Hollywood heartthrob but Dev Patel isn’t fazed by his new sexy status. The actor, 26, up for a Golden Globe for his role in Lion, says emphasis on his looks is “just awkward”. Instead, he wants to focus on his craft. The Slumdog Millionaire star said: “It’s quite ground-breaking for actors like us to be able to step into such meaty roles and play characters with pain and an emotional depth and a soul.” All together now... swoon! Jurassic World actress Bryce Dallas Howard (pictured) reckons Hollywood needs to move away from its own dinosaur traditions. Speaking to the crowd at the Moet Moment Film Festival which kicked off the Golden Globes pre-parties, she said: “I’m going to just be blunt, we have a diversity issue, we have a gender issue and we can make a difference.” Could this be the tone set for tonight’s awards?

Meanwhile, former Golden Globe winner Gina Rodriguez has alluded to elitism in the biz.

She said: “It’s always been a crazy journey. I only paid off my dues two months ago.”

But no one seemed to have money problems in this joint.

I’m told 1,500 bottles of Moet will be sunk every hour at the Globes. It could be massively awkward tonight as Brad Pitt AND Angelina Jolie have been invited. Angelina is on the list alongside her brother James. To make matters worse, Kate Hudson is also expected at the bash. She was rumoured to be getting close to Brad last month. A source tells me: “Neither Brad or Angelina are up for awards so they don’t have to go. But anything could happen.” Harry Styles isn’t even in LA but he’s been the talk of the Globes. He is set to star in war thriller Dunkirk as well as playing Mick Jagger in Exile On Main Street.

And sources tell me the 22-year-old’s co-stars are annoyed because of all the fuss surrounding him.

One producer said: “Everyone wants to cast Harry – he’s on the top of everyone’s list. He is an instant box office hit.

“Some of his co-stars who are established actors are miffed by all the attention he is getting when they have been grafting for years. But that’s Hollywood.” HOLLYWOOD’S Golden Globes are kicking off tonight – and they are meant to be one of the most raucous events in the showbiz calender. But nominee Naomie Harris has revealed she won’t be going wild – and insists she will be teetotal for the big bash. She said: “I don’t even drink. I don’t like the taste of wine. When I go to parties, I just ask for water. And when there are celebrations everyone is like, ‘Let’s get champagne’, but I can’t think of anything worse. “I do give it away. I know I am the rarity and I don’t smoke either. I find the smell abhorrent. “People say, ‘ Just let your hair down’, but that is not my idea of letting my hair down. “I have friends who cry when they are drunk but they don’t remember it the next morning, which is very strange to me.” But Naomie, 40, isn’t the only person going teetotal for the bash – a string of stars are doing Dry January. Lion producer Iain Canning said: “I won’t be going crazy because I’m not drinking in January. A lot of people are doing that.” While Naomie has a healthy life, she admits her clean living made it hard for her to play a crack addict in Moonlight, for which she has earned her glittering nod. She said: “I’m Miss Clean Living so for me to play a crack addict is a massive leap and I think she scared me. It’s the most research I’ve done on a character because she was so alien to me.” To get into the role, she turned to YouTube to research her portrayal of abusive mother Paula, who battles with her issues while failing to raise her son Chiron. The movie takes place over the course of three decades, with Naomie playing the mum at each age.

She said: “YouTube is like an incredible mine of information. It has everything that you could possibly want on there. You have amazing people who go around with their iPhones and go to places that you’d never go to, like crack dens, and interview addicts. You also have incredible documentaries on crack addiction.

“You have everything you could possibly want, and also documentaries about Miami in the 1980s because, of course, culturally it’s dissimilar to me. So I had to really research and get my head around that as well.”

Naomie shot to fame as Miss Moneypenny in James Bond. But she says she is still baffled about how she ended up an actress.

“I really don’t know because I would tell people when I was four years old, ‘I’m gonna be an actress.’

“And I don’t know where that came from because no one in my family at the time was in acting. Everyone told me, ‘How are you gonna make a living out of being an actress? Nobody makes a living out of being an actress.’

“But I just had this belief and I would stand in front of the mirror as a child trying to make myself cry, imagining I was different people.

“My grandad gave me a children’s version of the Bible and I would hold people hostage in our sitting room and just read to them from it.” She insists she was never in it for the fame. “I do ask why people want to be famous. I never ever wanted to be famous.”

But now that she is an A-lister, Naomie loves to splash the cash on her loved ones.

“When you can do nice things for your family, like take them on holiday and treat your mum, that’s a wonderful feeling.”

Even if she wins tonight, the star isn’t holding out for an Oscar. “It would be nice and I would not say no,” she said. “I am very happy with my Golden Globe nomination. That is very nice.”

Time to celebrate... with a nice cup of tea. E! will be live from the red carpet at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards from 11pm tonight
