JAY’S ON HIS METTLE FOR STEELER TEST
THe last time jay Ajayi banged heads with pittsburgh, miami’s season was on the brink of collapse after they lost four of their first five games.
by the end of that day back in October, the Dolphins’ london-born running back had torn the Steelers apart with a staggering 204-yard rushing and two touchdowns, and put miami back in the Super bowl race.
Tonight, Ajayi lines up against the Steelers again, this time in pittsburgh and in the opening round of the nFl playoffs, where every game is knockout.
He knows he will be targeted after his display three months ago but with the Dolphins in the playoffs for the first time in eight years, Ajayi is trying to remain level-headed.
He said: “You want to go into this like it’s just any other game. even though we know it’s a playoff game and that it’s win or go home, it’s still just football.
“You have to go out there and play your game. You can’t think that the moment is too big or else you won’t perform.
“i haven’t experienced a playoff atmosphere yet but i’ve had the opportunity to play in some games in my life that were pretty big.
“i’m confident in myself and i know that the moment shouldn’t be too big for me.”
Ajayi, in his first full season as a pro after his rookie year was wrecked by injury, won’t catch pittsburgh by surprise this time but he can’t wait to see them again.
He added: “we’re excited for the chance to get another crack at them. And it’s the playoffs so the stakes are higher. They’ve been on a good run but all of that goes out the window because it’s the playoffs.
“we understand that we’re going up to their house and it’s going to be a tough environment but we know what we want to do and we know that they are in the way of us achieving what we want at the end of this season.”
