The Exe Factor
e y r d - y. s e e he ng m k. , o r ming holiday – our very own hot tub. Not surprisingly the whole family took full advantage of this luxury on our doorstep, jumping in at every opportunity, whether it be for an early morning dip, afternoon bubbles or watching the sun go down with a cold bottle of beer. We did manage to dr drag ourselves away from the park and h head to Go Ape in Haldon just a 20 20-minute drive away. After some friendly instruction, Jam James and I felt confident enough to ta tackle ziplining between the trees, lea leaving our dad to meet us at the end an and capture the feat on camera. I It was so much fun I didn’t even mind the tree bark I’d collected in my socks alo along the way!
TREAT
It’s also worth a tour round Powderham Castle, a 10- minute drive away from Cofton and six miles from Exeter. The handsome castle has beautiful gardens, birds of prey and even tennis courts. We had an unexpected treat on our tour when the castle’s owner, the Earl of Devon, joined us halfway through and gave an impromptu speech.
After all that excitement it was time to retire for a pint and a bite at the lovely rural Ship Inn in Cockwood, a 10-minute drive away.
Tucking into lamb chops and pint of fine real ale, we discussed whether the Earl would fancy taking in a few lodgers...
