MAZZA: CUP AFTER PREM

-

WATFORD manager Walter Mazzarri will not be afraid to ring the changes ahead of his side’s potential banana skin of an FA Cup tie at Millwall today.

The Hornets head to the Den to take on the Lions, 10th in League One, as they embark on a run of three pivotal matches inside six days, with a trip to Arsenal on Tuesday before Burnley travel to Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Watford will face a Millwall side which stunned Bournemouth in the previous round with a deserved 3-0 victory against the Premier League club.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe elected to make 11 changes to his side, and Mazzarri (above), whose Watford team have slumped to 14th in the table following a winless streak, suggested that the magic of FA Cup may have to take a back seat.

“I see there is a lot of attention on what we should do against Millwall,” Mazzarri said. “I didn’t see this attention and appreciation when we beat Burton in the last round with a team that was missing a lot of the starting 11 players and playing with youngsters like Brandon Mason.

“In the FA Cup, anything can happen. With three games in one week, any decision I take will have its problems, so I will try and make the decision and play the best possible team for three games.

“The FA Cup means a lot to me, but you cannot play on Sunday without thinking about the games with Arsenal on Tuesday and Burnley on Saturday.”
