We love Sanchez – but he’s a bore

-

ALEXIS SANCHEZ is not THAT good. He’s really good but not THAT good.

Not good enough to get away with increasingly tiresome public displays of dissatisfaction and frustration with his team-mates.

We’ve had the glove-throwing, the hissyfits on the bench and, on Wednesday, we had the drop to the haunches and the forlorn look.

The message is clear. I care more than anyone else.

Maybe he does and his effort, his determination, his grit and his energy are exemplary.

He is the supporters’ favourite with good reason.

But no matter how committed and excellent he has been, some of his flouncing behaviour has become nauseating.

He can get away with it, of course, because his workrate is unbelievable compared to, say, Mesut Ozil’s.

Ozil is ready-made as a scapegoat. It is worth considering, though, who would be more sought after by an elite club … Sanchez or Ozil?

It seems a no-brainer but if a Bayern, a Real Madrid or a Barcelona were forced to choose one of the two, my money would be on Ozil.

Which is not to say Sanchez is less important to Arsenal than Ozil. He is more important. But let’s make it perfectly clear – with his histrionics Sanchez is becoming a bit of a bore.

SAIDO BERAHINO travelled alone to England at the age of 10, fleeing war-torn Burundi and eventually locating his mother, brother and sister, already granted asylum here.

Berahino has represented England at all junior levels up to Under-21s.

Forget his personal issues and transgressions, his story remains an inspirational one.

And it is probably one that would never have happened if UKIP had their way. Berahino now plays for Stoke City. Paul Nuttall, who lied about having a close friend perish at Hillsborough, is the latest UKIP by-election candidate. In Stoke-on-Trent.

Football clubs are loathe to get involved in politics. Maybe Stoke City should make an exception.
