MATCH of the Day’s Gary Lineker was at the centre of a muffin mystery yesterday after a young girl’s cake was snaffled.

The lemon treat vanished after a girl named Alice left it on a table in a Starbucks coffee shop in South West London.

Muffin vanished while she looked out of the window. He suggested former England soccer star Gary, 56, had picked it up by accident – and jokingly added the hashtag #lemonmuffingate. Starbucks gave Alice a replacement muffin. TV favourite Gary – who famously pinches crisps in ads for Walkers crisps – is an avid Twitter user. But of the muffin he had tweeted nuffin’.
