Gloom but no doom

-

In 2015 there were 408 pedestrian fatalities in the UK, accounting for 24 per cent of road deaths. And 48 per cent of them occurred between 6pm and 6am. So it’s not surprising a poll from Ford shows many of us worry about night blindness, and live in fear of hitting someone – or something. But it seems we CAN avoid upping our carrot intake. The car firm is introducing new technology to detect pedestrians at night and then apply the brakes if the driver does not respond. Any technology that can put a break on our fears has got to be welcomed. Bee happy! Under draft rules from the EU, damaging insecticides could be banned to protect bees and other pollinators, vital for many food crops. Let’s tell the pesticides to buzz off.
