Baby joy 2yrs after Mother’s Day lump

- BY GRACE MACASKILL

Joy as Deanne and Freya bond Zander and sister Lilly MIRACLE mum Kimberley Boreham overcame extraordinary odds to have her baby daughter after discovering a cancerous lump on Mother’s Day.

She was 19 weeks pregnant with daughter Darcey when she found a lump on her neck and underwent emergency blood tests.

Nine weeks later she had an operation to remove cancerous tonsils and a week after Darcey was born in August 2015 she started a six-week course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

But incredibly, 32-year-old Kimberley is now looking forward to the birth of another child after beating cancer.

She first noticed the lump on her neck on Mother’s Day in 2015.

At first she thought it may be hormone related but couldn’t shake the feeling something was wrong.

But she was totally shocked when doctors told her she had Grade 3 cancer of the tonsils.

She said: “I just looked at my husband Adam and burst into tears.

“Then I remembered the baby inside me and I just wanted to make sure my baby was OK.”

Kimberley delayed chemotherapy treatment until Darcey was born at 34 weeks when she was given six weeks of intensive treatment alongside daily radiotherapy.

She and graphic designer husband Adam, 40, looked after a new baby and her son Parker, who turns three tomorrow, as Kimberley recovered.

When her third child is born in May, the professional dog walker will celebrate 18 cancer-free months.

Kimberley, of Bedford, said: “We’ve had a rough time but we’re looking forward to a fresh start with our new addition.

“I’ve always been known as the stubborn one of my family but that stubbornness helped get me through the bad times.

“I’m not saying it was easy as I needed counselling to deal with it all but I’m still here and we’re so happy to be having another baby.”
