Waiter on First Dates is well trout of order

Waitress CiCi The Channel 4 show First Dates is one of my guilty pleasures. Somehow it cleverly manages to balance a toe-curlingly embarrassing format with an approach that’s always respectful, funny and often moving. My highlight last week was when waitress CiCi Coleman was testing her colleague Austin Ventour on the ingredients that make up the TV restaurant’s seafood platter. Austin correctly listed mussels and crab, but then started to flounder. At which point CiCi tried to help him out by miming the missing ingredient. Austin looked at the shape she was making with her fingers and guessed: “Seahorse!” Funny as it was, Cici did not look amused. She seems to think his serving skills are a bit of a clam-ity.
