HARRY: I CAN HIT TOP 50

- BY SIMON MULLOCK

PROLIFIC Harry Kane has set his sights even higher next season.

The Spurs striker reckons he can score 50 goals for club and country in the next campaign – and he also sees no reason why England can’t win the World Cup.

Kane, who hit 38 in 41 games last season ending with his double against Scotland, reckons he would have broken through the halfcentury barrier if he hadn’t missed three months with injury.

Now the Premier League’s double Golden Boot winner is looking to notch up the kind of tally that is unheard of outside the annual La Liga shoot-out between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

And with Spurs back in the Champions League and England on course for the World Cup, that’s great news for Mauricio Pochettino and Gareth Southgate.

Kane said: “The number of goals I have scored is pretty good – but 50 goals is a target I would now love.

“Hopefully I can stay fit for the whole season next season. That’s always the aim. And, yeah, 50 goals is something I would love to achieve.”

After taking the England armband, Kane scored the vital equaliser in the World Cup qualifying 2-2 draw against Scotland, and struck twice in the 3-2 friendly defeat in France.

He added: “I think the [England] players we’ve got – and the manager and staff – are all heading in the right direction. It’s about putting the little building blocks in place for Russia.”
